Ian Mulgrew: B.C.’s civil forfeiture law is flawed



Frank Albert Wolff was caught speeding with a stash of marijuana in his pickup truck. the government seized his $52,000 Dodge Ram under the civil forfeiture law, which came into effect after he was charged. the first case to be heard by the B.C. Court of Appeal, three justices unanimously agreed the act aimed at taking the profit out of “unlawful activity” was “wide in scope and firm in its application.” this relates to law 12  because it shows and talks about how this case needed go all the way to the Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.

Chinese mining firm launches rights complaint, threatens feds with lawsuit




 
The Chinese mining firm at the Centre have a controversial plan to use temporary foreign workers in a British Columbia coal mine that launched a two-pronged attack, threatening both a human rights complaint and legal action. How it relates to Law 12 because it involves human rights, legal actions.

B.C. woman may lose home over huge lawyer bill



Yesterday , Dec.4, a B.C women stands to lose he home to her lawyer, who is moving to foreclose on her to pay his six-figure bill. where Fotsch got into the predicament after being sued by her former common-law husband, where she won the case and where the husband was to pay her costs. they had both divorced but where she needed to pay a load of different payments for the divorce. it also went through the Supreme court of Canada and Court Of Appeal. This article relates to Law 12 because it talks about the Supreme Court Of Canada and also the Court of Appeal which we learnt in Law 12, also it talks about divorce, which is a project i am currently researching on.

Suspicious item found outside New West SkyTrain Station is not a bomb

The Delta Police bomb squad investigates a suspicious package near Farrell Avenue and Whitcomb Place in Tsawwassen's Beach Grove neighbourhood on November 5, 2012 as evacuated residents wait for the all-clear to return to their homes.

In Metro Vancouver there was a suspicious package found outside New Westminister skytrain last night and was seen as not a bomb but a metal pipe,wrapped in an electrical tape, with a wooden dowel inside.drennan said the item was examined and tested by RCMP and came to found not be an explosive device.Concern over the package forced police to shut down the station for about 30 minutes on Monday night, she said."The safety of our passengers continues to be our number one priority," she said, in a news release Tuesday. "Passengers will see an increased uniform presence on the transit system for the immediate future." this relates to Law 12 because it shows the safety and security of people in canada from terrorism.
